Qualifications of Staff Members
Douglas W. Denton, MA, LCDC, LCCA, ADS., Executive Director
- Mr. Denton has been the Executive Director of Homeward Bound, Inc.,
since the founding of its first program with the Dallas County Adult Probation Department.
This project was to develop a pilot program for first offenders in need of job placement,
housing and guidance.He has successfully managed numerous subsequent contracts as Homeward
Bound, Inc., has grown with support from private donations and funding sources such as the
Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the City
of Dallas. Mr. Denton was also one of the managing partners in a group
developing psychiatric/substance abuse hospital units from 1987 to 1992
. Prior to 1980, Mr. Denton managed the Treatment Alternatives to
Street Crime (TASC) Program and the Community Services Jail Program
for Dallas County. He was a senior research associate from 1974 to 1978
in the Institute of Urban Studies, and an Adjunct Instructor of Sociol
ogy, Criminal Justice, Grant Writing and Management as well as Research
and Statistics for the University of Texas at Arlington and the Dallas
County Community College District. Mr. Denton holds a BA in Sociology
and an MA in Urban Affairs (Criminal Justice Counseling and
Administration). He is licensed by the State of Texas asa Chemical
Dependency Counselor (LCDC),
Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist( ADS) and a
Child Care Administrator (LCCA).

Susana E. Méndez, MD,L.Ac, LCDC, M.O.M, CAS, ABMPP, NBCDCH, ICADAC, CADS,
CCJS-MAC, ADCIII, Assistant Executive Director.
- Dr. Méndez is a bi-lingual licensed psychiatrist in Argentina and licensed physician in Spain.
She has over 25 years of experience working in the psychiatric and
chemical dependency fields. In 2005 she obtained a Masters in Oriental Medicine
(Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Chinesse Herbology) in USA.
Dr. Méndez has extensive experience in Residential and Outpatient
programs working for profit and nonprofit corporations.
In Texas she has been Director of the Narcotic Treatment Programs for Homeward Bound, Inc.
she also has been part of the treatment team of the Adult Outpatient
Program at Nexus Recovery Center, Inc., Doctors Hospital in
Garland and past Director of the Adult Outpatient component
for The New Place. She was the Program Director of the Adult
Residential Unit of Charter Behavioral Health System in
central Pennsylvania and The Harbor in New Jersey.
Besides her Adminsitrative responsibilities
she has direct supervision of all program directors medical staff overseeing the clinical component of the facility
,(from Intake to discharge), Research Unit, the State Wide program for CD-HIV,
and the Public Acupuncture clinic at Homeward Bound, Inc,
with the implementation of the Eastern theories within the context
of regular treatments (Auricular acupuncture - Body acupuncture,
Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Yoga ).

Sharon Bailey, D.O. ~ Dr. Bailey is the Medical Director
of Homeward Bound, Inc.
Dr. Bailey is a Board Certified Adicctionologist and Anesthesiologist
and has practiced Family Medicine for the past five (5) years.
Prior to her recent stint in private practice she worked in our Intake
Department doing all medical assessments for detoxification and residential
treatment admissions (1997-1999).She came to us from Cornell Corrections
where she was the Medical Director for the 30 bed minimum security
judicial treatment center for the county. Dr. Bailey is ASAM certified and has extensive
experience in delivering medical services to people with CD-HIV-and MH. .

Pradeep Kumar, MD. ~
Dr. Kumar is a psychiatrist and
one of the Attending Physician of Homeward Bound, Inc.
He is in charge of the assessments and follow ups of the
patients enrrolled in our COPSD program.
He also serves as
one of our PI for the reserach unit.

Rosangela Sosa, MD ~ Dr. Sosa graduated
from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, earning a Medical Degree
as a General Practicioner. She is the Medical Liason for Ciudad Juarez
,Mexico/ El Paso, Texas and Southern New Mexico area. She is
working as physician in Juarez- Mexico through Homeward Bound, Inc
providing medical services to clients with HIV and Chemical Dependence problems.
Dr. Sosa is the Vice Chairman and Medical representative concerning
medical issues realted to CD and psychiatric disorders for Operation
Bridge for the Rio Grande Safe Communities Coalition which conducts
surveys on underage drinking along the El Paso- Juarez Border.
At this time she is pursuing her Masters in Public Health.

Jeffry R. Fuller, M.Div, LCDC, ADS , Residential Services
- Program Director - Jeff has been working for Homeward Bound, Inc
for the last 4 years,
his experience in the chemical dependence and mental health brings
to the table a real understanding of Dual Diagnosis.
He has been working as Pastor of four Congregations in IL, KY and OH
leading services
in Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Services in other areas of Texas include experience in Methadone Clinic and Family Counseling.
He holds a Master Degree in Divinity and 3 years experince as Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist.
As a Program Director for the Residential Units he will supervise
the senior staff in clinical matters realted to DHSH,
NorthStar funding. In addition, he has conducted professional training in the community.
C. Renee Breazeale, B.S., LCDC, Outpatient Services
- Program Director - Renee has over 16 years experience in
the mental health industry working primarily with chemically
dependent individuals. She holds a B.S. in Social and Rehabilitation Services
from the University of Southern Mississippi and has been a
Licensed ChemicalDependency Counselor since 1990.
Renee has been the Intake Coordinator for Homeward Bound
Since 2002, Program Director for the Residential Unit
at The New Place and the Program Director for the Adult Outpatient
and Adolescent Residential Program at Nexus.
In addition, she has conducted professional training in the community.
Ashley Gold Macchia, MA, LPC, LCDC, ADS, Ancillary Services - Program Director – Ashley has many years experience in the counseling field working with addiction, mental illness, domestic violence and sexual assault. She holds a B.A in English and Women’s Studies from Boston College and a M.A. in Counseling from St. Edwards University . Ashley has been a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor since 2003, Licensed Acudetox Specialist since 2003, and a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2004. She supervises CI’s, LPCi’s and practicum students. Ashley has been at Homeward Bound since 2002 and has worked as a counselor, research coordinator and senior counselor of the detox unit. Ashley sees a variety of clients in her private practice and lectures on various topics throughout the community.
Philip D. Ray, M.Ed, M.B.A.,, Director of Operations -
Phil has held a COPSD position until his new appointment as
Director of operations. For the three years prior to that,
he worked as a freelance grant writter on several projects for
Homeward Bound, Inc and as International Dive Master and PADI scuba
instructor in Bodrum, Turkey.
Sanjay Sankalia, BS, M.B.A,,
Controller- Director of Accounting, Trinity Center, Dallas / El Paso, -
Sanjay became a member of Homeward Bound, Inc recently after being
an auditor and Manager of finance
in several organization in New York and Texas.
For years he managed his own operation in Arlington.
He bring to us his experience as CPA and as Consultant for other non profit organizations.
Sam Marcel, MA, LVN,,
Director of Operations, Trinity Center, EL Paso, -
Sam became a member of Homeward Bound, Inc - Trintiy Center,
El Paso, since we open our Unit in January 2004.
For the 3 years prior to that, he worked as a Manager for
the Detoxification Unit at Panamerican Hospital in El Paso.
His experience goes back over 8 years when he started out as LVN
working with this specific popualtion.

DALLAS LOCATION. We are happy to anounce that since May 2005 we are offering daily Body Acupuncture, Cupping, Gua Sha, and Tuina to our patients in the Residential and Outpatient programs, specially designed for individuals with medical condition capable to improve their health with these ancient techniques. Our patients in the State Wide Program are getting treatments weekly in order to enhance their immune system and support the westerns protocols. Patient participate as needed or as recommended by our staff doctors.
Our Acupuncture Clinic is open to the public Monday thru Friday form 9:00 to 12:00 noon. We accept private patients by calling to 214-941-3500 extension # 311 and seatting appointments.
